Fort Bragg

Fort Bragg
As a 12-year-old living on an army base in North Carolina, I’d wander out at night, following the paved footpath past the basketball courts, and look at the dark line of woods that held the remnants of World War II military training grounds. Foxholes, building foundations (the tops had been stripped off, and foxholes-all vestiges of military training exercises- and envision a whole imaginary world living in those dark groves. One filled with monstrous Lovecraftian creatures and paranormal entities.
In my short story “Fort Bragg”, first printed by Splatterpunk Zine and later included in my collection of short stories “Down Highways in the Dark…by Demons Driven”, a young kid ventures into those woods, explores an abandoned building foundation, and stumbles across a truly terrifying government conspiracy.
